If You Don't Get Paid, Neither Do We.
In the state of Florida, completing daily activities are not always accomplished by operating a motor vehicle on the roadways. People often get around to accomplish activities on foot. During these times, pedestrians can be seen walking on the sidewalks, through crosswalks, on the side of the road, and other places where they are authorized to do so. When driving around pedestrians, motorists have an obligation to operate their vehicle in a safe manner; however, this is not always the case. Motorists’ failure to uphold this obligation, in many instances can lead to serious injury to pedestrians and worse, death.
A few common causes of pedestrian accidents include:
• Inclement weather conditions.
• Distracted drivers (i.e texting, talking on the phone, adjusting the radio, or taking their eyes off of the road).
• Speeding.
• Failure to yield to the right of way for pedestrians who are in a crosswalk, or failing to obey a traffic signal at an intersection.
• Motorists who are driving while restless or falling asleep.
• Motorists that are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or medications.
